Permanent Lighting in Hendersonville, TN

Hendersonville lake houses and street houses alike get permanent, app-controlled LED roofline lighting from Permanent Lighting Solutions, with our installers doing the fitting.

Hendersonville sits on Old Hickory Lake in Sumner County, about 18 miles northeast of downtown Nashville. Permanent, app-controlled LED roofline lighting goes up here the same way it does on any house. Licensed, insured and certified installers tuck a low-profile track under the eave, and every scene is then picked from your phone.

Brick, siding and long eaves

Two-story Hendersonville houses, one continuous run

A lot of Hendersonville's homes are two-story brick or siding with long, straight rooflines. That shape suits a single continuous run of light better than a few scattered fixtures, and one continuous run is what the track gives you. It is cut to length for each stretch of eave and fastened there, so a lake-view roof takes it as readily as a house in the middle of a street.

A two-story brick and stone house at night, its rooflines and gables run in one continuous green line that washes the walls.

The lake shaped the city. Once the Old Hickory dam and its lake were completed in 1954, Hendersonville began to develop more quickly: sportsmen and people looking for recreation came, and some became residents or bought second homes.

The Davidson County neighborhood of Old Hickory shares its name with that dam and lake, having started as a factory town in wartime on the Cumberland River. See permanent lighting for Old Hickory homes.

From the water and from the road

Those are the City of Hendersonville's own figures, and it describes the result as a blend of city living and spacious country surroundings.

A house on the water gets looked at from the lake and from the far shore as well as from its own street, so the run worth having wraps every eave and gable on every side. Each corner along the way is mitered, cut to its own angle and joined, so the line turns the corner without a kink.

Zones suit a lake house. The side facing the water can hold warm white while the street side runs a color. And the channel takes the color of your trim, dark bronze under a dark soffit or white under white, so in daylight it belongs to the roof edge. The system page shows it close up.

More finished rooflines are in the gallery.

Lakefront rooflines on the Indian Lake peninsula

Old Hickory Lake wraps the Indian Lake peninsula on three sides, so many homes there face open water at the back and along the flanks, not only the street. Our installers put the run along every roof edge that looks out at the lake, which means a house near the shoreline or around Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club reads as a finished line from a passing boat and from across the cove. Water carries a view a long way at dusk, so a lit eave is easy to pick out from the far bank, and the lake-facing rear roof matters as much as the front.

Damp air and wind come off the water, which is why a slim, fixed track under the eave suits a lake house better than strings held by clips. By day the install is basically invisible. On boat parade night the boats see the lake side of a house, so that is the roofline to light; the Hendersonville holiday lights guide has the date and route.

HolidayFest weekend, after dark

Permanent Christmas lights in Hendersonville, TN, for the boat parade

Christmas lights on a permanent system in Hendersonville are the roofline lights that run all year, switched to a December scene. The holidays and their colors are already in the controller, and for a different look each zone can be set by hand from your phone.

The full comparison is putting lights up every year against putting them up once.

December on the lake belongs to HolidayFest, the Sumner County nonprofit that puts on both the boat parade and the Christmas Parade, with the proceeds going to local organizations and charities.

On boat parade night the sun sets about an hour before the first boats leave Drakes Creek, so the whole parade runs in the dark. A permanent system can be lit both nights of that weekend on a schedule you set once, with no ladder involved.

See our Hendersonville holiday lights guide for the 2026 boat parade, Christmas parade and light shows nearby.

Out back, on any evening

A Hendersonville patio lit on any evening

  • Covered patio
  • Porch
  • Detached garage

Lighting in Hendersonville can reach past the main roof. A porch, a covered patio and a detached garage each have a roof edge, and the channel can follow each one back to the controller.

That turns a patio into a room you can light on any evening, and people use it for that far more than for the holidays. Switched off, there is nothing to see on the house: no cords, no gutter clips, no box on the wall. The channel sits on the fascia or up under the soffit, and the gutter and the roofing stay free of fasteners.

The pricing page covers what the lights themselves cost to put up.

December 2026, one weekend

A boat parade on the lake

Hendersonville has the only holiday event on our calendar that happens on the water. The Deck The Hulls Christmas Boat Parade runs Saturday, December 5, 2026, starting at 5:30 pm. The route starts in Drakes Creek, passes the judges at Mallard Point and finishes at Sander's Ferry Park. It is free to watch and free for boat owners to enter, and the organizer's own line is "Let's LIGHT UP THE LAKE."

Main Street the next afternoon

On Sunday, December 6, 2026, HolidayFest's "A Storybook Christmas" parade goes down Main Street at 2:00 pm. The organizer lists more than 80 floats, trailers, dancers and entertainers, with Santa at the end. The tree lighting follows the parade at Memorial Park.

The Hendersonville parks department also lists a Festival of Lights among its annual community events. No readable 2026 date was found for it as of October 2, 2026, so none is shown. Every Hendersonville date, plus the dates for nearby towns, is on our 2026 holiday lights calendar.

Planning an install around the first weekend of December

The boat parade and the Main Street parade fall on back-to-back days, which makes the first weekend of December the one to plan around. A roofline finished by Friday, December 4 is lit for both.

The install date comes from your property and the weather, not the calendar. Give the installers the date you are working toward and they plan back from it with you, since an early start leaves room for a stretch of rain.

  1. October 22 to 24PigFest
  2. Friday, October 30, 6 to 8 pmTrick or Treat at Drakes Creek Park
  3. November 26Indian Lake Loop 5 mile walk and run

The parks department's list of annual events runs from Trick-or-Treat in the fall to a Veterans Day Parade and a Freedom Festival. The same lights can follow along: the team colors on game day, red, white and blue for the Fourth, orange for Halloween. Valentine's, St Patrick's, Easter, Hanukkah, New Year's and Thanksgiving each get a setting on that channel too.

This fall shows how that plays out. Hendersonville Parks hosts a night of trick-or-treating at Drakes Creek Park, and orange is the setting for that one. HolidayFest calls the Indian Lake Loop, its 5 mile walk and run, "everyone's favorite pre-turkey ritual." Each of these is one more setting on the same channel.

Lights change from your phone in a few seconds, and a schedule set once on install day has the controller run it every night. Before you decide, try some presets or read how the app control works. There is nothing to hang and nothing new to buy.

Old Hickory Dam station

A Hendersonville year of weather

  • 47.93 inof precipitation in an average year
  • 86.1mornings a year at or below freezing
  • 59.4afternoons a year at 90 degrees or above
  • 47.0January average high, with an average low of 27.2

A NOAA climate station at Old Hickory Dam, on the same lake, supplies those 1991 to 2020 normals, and they read like the year a roofline here actually gets: wet, with a long run of frosty mornings in winter and plenty of hot afternoons in summer.

The lights sit tucked in the channel under the roof edge, out of the water that runs off the roof. Outside companies test the parts and each one carries a UL rating, and the light itself is rated for about 50,000 hours. When a storm is on the way, leave them up. Coverage and upkeep are explained on the care page.
