Permanent Lighting in Murfreesboro, TN

Murfreesboro, the Rutherford County seat, is served by Permanent Lighting Solutions, and our installers fit permanent LED roofline lighting in three channel profiles to suit a boxed eave, an open rafter tail or a gable rake.

Murfreesboro is the Rutherford County seat, about 34 miles southeast of downtown Nashville, and the roofline lighting installed there is permanent LED: licensed, insured and certified installers fit a low-profile track under the eave. Everything runs from your phone: warm white on a regular night, and a holiday color when the day calls for one.

Murfreesboro rooflines from every era

Murfreesboro was settled in 1811 and was the Tennessee state capital from 1818 to 1826. Downtown, the Public Square surrounds the 1859 Rutherford County Courthouse. Then came everything built since: the census counted 44,922 people in Murfreesboro in 1990 and 152,769 in 2020, so a great many of its streets are far younger than the Square.

Roof edges differ from era to era: one house has a boxed eave, the next an open rafter tail, a third a steep gable rake across the front. For that reason the channel comes in three profiles. On site, before anything is ordered, the installers choose the profile that follows your own roof edge and match its color to your trim, so the channel passes for part of the house in daylight. The system page shows the hardware close up, and the gallery holds more finished rooflines.

December 2026

Murfreesboro's 2026 downtown and parade dates

These Murfreesboro dates are confirmed for 2026, from Main Street Murfreesboro and from the City of Murfreesboro.

Other dates across the area are gathered on our 2026 holiday lights calendar.

Dates for the 2026 downtown tree lighting and the Murfreesboro Christmas Parade are in our Murfreesboro holiday lights guide.

  • Sip, Shop & Stroll Downtown After 5 Holiday Edition: Friday, November 6, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in historic downtown, with festive storefronts, holiday decor and gifts.

  • Celebrate Christmas Downtown: Friday, December 4, from 6:00 pm, the annual lighting of the Rutherford County Christmas tree at the Courthouse. Main Street organizes it, with stage performances from 6:30 pm that include Santa lighting the tree.

  • Murfreesboro Christmas Parade: Sunday, December 13, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, hosted by the City. The City's listing says the parade is always held on the second Sunday of December, starts at East Main Street by MTSU and ends on Walnut Street, one block past the Square. The 2026 theme is "A Country Christmas."

Nine days from tree lighting to parade

The two big dates are nine days apart: the tree lighting on Friday, December 4 and the parade on Sunday, December 13. A roofline finished by Thursday, December 3 is lit for both. The downtown evening on Friday, November 6 comes first, if you would like the house ready for that too.

The install date comes from the property and the weather, and the calendar has no say in it. Name the date that matters and the installers plan back from it with you, with an early start leaving room for a rainy stretch.

The December setting

Murfreesboro Christmas lights from the same controller

For Christmas, Murfreesboro's permanent lights are the same roofline lights that run all year, with the controller set to a December scene. The controller already has the holidays and their colors, and any zone can be adjusted by hand on the phone for a different look. Red and green can be chosen on the phone, and a sunset schedule only needs setting once. Nothing is strung up in November, and nothing is packed away in January.

That comparison has its own page, which sets permanent against putting lights up every winter.

Past the main roof

A Murfreesboro garage on the same controller

Lighting can reach past the main roof as well. A detached garage, a porch and a covered patio each have a roof edge of their own, and the channel can run along all of them from one controller.

The zones decide how it looks, with warm white on the porch and a color on the gables, or the front lit and the back of the house dark. Where each zone sits is settled when the system is laid out.

With the lights off in daylight, the face of the house stays clear. The channel rides on the fascia or beneath the soffit, and nothing is screwed into the gutter or the roof itself. Coverage and upkeep are explained on the care page. The pricing page lays out where a system starts and what raises or lowers it on a given house.

After the parade

One install, still at work after Christmas

Murfreesboro is home to Middle Tennessee State University, and game day can mean your team's colors on lights that sit warm white on game-free nights, go orange for Halloween and turn red, white and blue on the Fourth. Easter, St Patrick's, Valentine's, New Year's, Hanukkah and Thanksgiving are the same channel on a different setting, and that gives permanent holiday lighting somewhere to go when Christmas is over.

A color change takes a few seconds on the phone, and a schedule entered on install day is kept by the controller every night. Nothing new needs buying and nothing needs hanging. Before you decide, you can try some presets or read how app control works.

Elsewhere in the Nashville area: Nolensville and Franklin

Permanent lighting in Nolensville and permanent lighting in Franklin, the Williamson County seat, are covered on their own pages. Murfreesboro is part of the Nashville metropolitan area.

Smyrna, in the same county, lights its Christmas tree at the Train Depot on Tuesday, November 24, ten days before the Courthouse tree lighting here on Friday, December 4. See permanent roofline lighting in Smyrna.
