The channel goes up once under the eave, and from then on the colors are yours to pick on your phone.

A streetcar suburb on a road older than the Civil War

Wikipedia's Hillsboro Village entry describes Hillsboro Road as a major thoroughfare dating from before the Civil War, and the village as a former streetcar suburb. It began to take shape in 1920, when two groceries and a pharmacy opened beside the trolley line on Hillsboro Road, and most of the surrounding houses were built between 1910 and 1940. The road also splits the area in two: Hillsboro-West End to the west and Belmont-Hillsboro to the east. Metro Nashville's Green Hills-Midtown plan adds that consolidating the electric streetcar system in 1902 made both neighborhoods attractive and accessible. Towns beyond the village are on the service areas page.

A theater and a mansion that draw an evening crowd

The Belcourt Theatre opened in 1925 as the Hillsboro Theatre, shared its stage with the Grand Ole Opry from 1934 to 1936, and reopened on July 22, 2016 after seven months of renovation, according to Wikipedia. The Belcourt's own history page puts its audience at approximately 150,000 visitors annually. Belmont Mansion, on the Belmont University campus, was built between 1850 and 1860 as a summer garden estate and is the largest home built in Nashville before the Civil War, according to the mansion's site.

Hillsboro Village houses, old and multi-unit

Houses built between 1910 and 1940

East of Hillsboro Road, the Belmont-Hillsboro Historic District has homes built between 1920 and 1924 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The channel is low profile and color matched to the trim, so on a house that age it reads by day as a thin line the color of the fascia, not something added on.

Small multi-unit buildings

Metro's plan describes the inner-ring neighborhoods here, Hillsboro-West End and Belmont-Hillsboro among them, as a mix of single-family, two-family and some smaller triplexes, quads and small stacked flats. Lighting follows the length of the roofline, so a small multi-unit building is measured the same way a house is. More roofline means more channel, and the pricing page shows what else moves an estimate.

Streets near an evening district

On streets near a theater and restaurants, a roof edge gets looked at after dark. The app can dim the whole roofline for a quiet weeknight and bring it up for a weekend, and a sunset schedule switches it on without anyone touching a phone.

Holiday nights near Belmont

Belmont Mansion lists a free Friends and Neighbors Shopping Night on November 19, 2026, from 4:30 to 8 pm, with local vendors, music and holiday decorations in its gift shop. It also lists An American Christmas on December 19, 2026 at 7:00 pm and December 20, 2026 at 2:30 pm. Belmont University's Christmas at Belmont page prints its concert days without a year, so no 2026 date is published for it and none is shown here.

A house nearby can book a December look weeks ahead in the app, and it will be lit on the night of a show or a shopping night with no ladder involved. More Nashville dates sit on the 2026 holiday lights calendar.

Questions from the old streetcar suburb

Which company installs roofline lighting in Hillsboro Village?

That is Permanent Lighting Solutions. Our licensed, insured and certified installers fit the whole system, from the channel under the roof edge to the controller indoors, on each job. The system page has close-ups of each part.

Can a house built between 1910 and 1940 take the channel?

Yes. The channel is aluminum, runs along the fascia or soffit, and is the only piece fixed to the house. It comes in three profiles, and the structure under the roof edge decides which one a house gets. The roof damage answer covers how it is fastened.

How are corners and gables handled on a small roof?

Each corner is cut to its own angle, so the line does not kink where the roof turns. The lights are spaced at a fixed distance when the run is made, which puts the first two and the last two the same distance apart.

Does it work with Alexa or Google Assistant?

Yes. A smart speaker can switch the roofline by voice. Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri and Control4 are all supported, and the smart home answer lists what each can do.

Can the roofline follow music?

Yes. Music mode listens through the phone's own microphone, so the lights follow whatever is playing near it, with a main color and a background color to pick. It suits a patio night better than a quiet street, and it is off until someone turns it on in the app.
