Green Lights for Veterans Day on Your House

A stucco house with two gables and dormers, its rooflines and walls washed in green light at dusk.

Operation Green Light for Veterans runs November 4 to 11, 2026, and the ask is simple: light something green for the people who served. A green bulb at your entry does it. If your roofline already runs on permanent lights, you can pick green in the app and take the house back to warm white afterward.

What Operation Green Light asks for

The campaign is run by the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers. They invite the nation's counties to light their buildings green from November 4 to 11, 2026. The point, in their words, is to let veterans know they are seen, appreciated and supported.

It is not only for governments. The campaign's own materials encourage individuals and businesses to join, and the household version is a single change: swap one light bulb in the entryway of your house or business for a green bulb.

A green bulb needs no estimate and no appointment, and it is the way to take part this year whether or not your house has permanent lights.

If your roofline is already permanent lights

Pick green in the app. There are over 16,000,000 colors on the wheel, and the whole roofline follows. A single color across a whole elevation is the safest way to use color: it reads as one decision rather than as decoration.

Prefer something quieter? Use a zone. Group the runs and set only the entry, or one wing, to green while the rest stays warm white. One controller holds up to 8 zones, and where the groups fall is worked out on your house when the system is set up.

Set it ahead. Scheduling in advance is built into the app, and holiday looks can be booked weeks ahead of time. Pick the November 4 to 11 dates once, and one tap takes the house back to warm white afterward.

Green is not on the holidays list on the presets page, and it does not need to be. Pick the color, or build the look and save it under its own name in the app.

Red, white and blue is a different date

Veterans Day lights are green because of Operation Green Light. Red, white and blue is the Fourth of July palette on the colors page. Both come out of the same lights, so using one never rules out the other.

If you want the roofline version

A new system will not be on the house by November 11. Our licensed, insured and certified installers schedule the channel after the deposit, and weather and a full November schedule move that. The first step is a free roofline walkthrough.

Take part this year with the green bulb. Plan the roofline for the next date, and every date after it works the same way: green for the campaign, red and green in December, warm white the rest of the time.

The price depends on the size of the house and the design, and the pricing page sets out where it starts. The estimate is free. Get a free lighting estimate, or call (629) 260-5444.

Questions

What color lights do you use for Veterans Day?

Green. Operation Green Light for Veterans asks for green from November 4 to 11, 2026. A green bulb at the entry takes part, and on a permanent roofline you pick green in the app.

What does a green porch light mean?

During Operation Green Light it is a way to tell veterans they are seen, appreciated and supported. The campaign suggests swapping one bulb in your entryway for a green one.

Can I light only my front entry green?

Yes, if your lights are in zones. The entry can run green while the rest of the roofline stays warm white. Where the zones fall is decided when the system is laid out, with the installers on site.

Will the house go back to warm white after November 11?

Yes. Scheduling ahead is built into the app, and one tap takes the house back to warm white afterward.

Is red, white and blue right for Veterans Day?

Red, white and blue is the Fourth of July palette on the colors page. The campaign this November asks for green. The same lights do both.
